Meet the Sewing tutor
Hi I’m Victoria Beaumont
Creativity has always been a huge part of my life. Growing up, I was the child who was constantly making, crafting, and experimenting with new projects, so it's no surprise that I eventually found my way into sewing, textiles, and fashion.
That passion led me to study Art and Textiles at Reading College before completing a Fashion and Textiles National Diploma and later a Fashion Design degree. During my studies, I developed strong skills in sewing, dressmaking, garment construction, and pattern cutting — skills I now share with students through my sewing classes in Reading.
How Teaching Sewing Began
Although I originally started an alterations business, it was during my final year at university that I discovered my real passion.
As part of a team-building day, I helped a group of complete beginners create a simple sewing project. Watching people learn new skills, build confidence, and create something with their own hands was incredibly rewarding.
That's when I realised that teaching people how to sew was just as enjoyable as sewing itself.
From One Sewing Class to a Growing Community
Later that year, I offered to help someone set up their sewing machine through a Facebook post.
What I expected to be a one-to-one lesson quickly turned into something much bigger. Dozens of people got in touch asking if they could learn too.
What started as a single evening sewing class in Reading soon grew into a thriving community of beginner sewists, dressmakers, and creative makers learning together each week.
Helping Adults Learn to Sew with Confidence
Today, teaching sewing classes for adults is at the heart of what I do.
Whether you're attending your first beginner sewing class, learning how to use a sewing machine, exploring dressmaking, or developing more advanced sewing skills, my aim is always the same:
To make sewing enjoyable, approachable, and achievable for everyone.
There's nothing more rewarding than seeing someone arrive feeling nervous and leave with new skills, growing confidence, and a project they're proud to have made themselves.
